Attractions

THE DISTRICT OF PESARO

Overlooking the sea and crossed by the Foglia river, Pesaro is a seaside resort located between two coastal hills: Monte Ardizio to the east-southeast and Monte San Bartolo to the west-northwest, which gives its name to the Natural Park of Monte San Bartolo and offers seven kilometers of sandy beach between the equipped and free coast (the Ponente / Levante Sottomonte beaches have obtained the 2018 Blue Flag for over 6 km),

A centuries-old tradition of seaside hospitality is linked to the sea, which pays particular attention to families and children.
Since 2010 Pesaro has dedicated the White Midnight for children, the flagship event of summer tourism programming, to the little ones, and some laboratory activities of reading aloud on the city's beaches are also dedicated to children, organized by the Baia Flaminia Library.
The bathing offer includes, thanks to the particular conformation of the territory, with the low and sandy coast narrow to the south and north with the San Bartolo and Ardizio hills that reach the sea, establishments easily accessible from the hotels and the historic center, and small bays surrounded by nature.
There are several cycle paths: the Bicipolitan is an itinerary reserved for bikers that connects different areas of the city. Special signs indicate the routes. There are lines of different colors, each of which leads in various directions.
The Pesaro-Fano cycle path runs along the entire coast in a southerly direction, up to Fosso Sejore; being at the beach level, it serves the bathing establishments that insist on the Levante beach and is very convenient for those who want to reach the beach by bicycle.

WHAT TO VISIT
Among the buildings of religious architecture are: the Cathedral, built on the remains of a late Roman building, which boasts an interesting mosaic heritage; the Church of Sant'Agostino, which preserves a notable Venetian-Gothic portal on the facade and important paintings inside; the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, built in the 13th century by the Malatesta family and rebuilt in Baroque style.
Among the noteworthy monuments and museums not to be missed are: the fifteenth-century Rocca Costanza, a square plan, reinforced by cylindrical towers and surrounded by a large moat, formerly used as a prison; the Palazzo Ducale, now the seat of the Prefecture, built by Alessandro Sforza in the second half of the 15th century; the Oliveriano Archaeological Museum and the Civic Museums, with the Pinacoteca and the Museum of Ceramics; located inside Palazzo Mosca, the Sonosphere, a space designed for the immersive enjoyment of three-dimensional sound and audio-visual content; Casa Rossini, which preserves documentary material, including prints and memorabilia related to the life and work of the great composer; the Rossini National Museum, which tells the life, man and greatness of the artist but also the relevance of Gioachino Rossini's work; the Rossini Theater, where the Rof (Rossini Opera Festival) takes place every year, an opera music festival that has been held annually in August in Pesaro, the birthplace of Gioachino Rossini, since 1980. ROF is also the name of the Foundation established in 1994 to support the Rossini Foundation in the theatrical, musicological and editorial recovery of Rossini's production.

The seafaring tradition is well documented by the Washington Patrignani Museum, which collects the testimonies relating to the history of the Pesaro navy in two sections.
A striking contemporary sculpture is the Palla by Arnaldo Pomodoro, a bronze sphere created in 1998 by the well-known sculptor. Villino Ruggeri is a beautiful Art Nouveau building; not far from Pesaro, on Colle San Bartolo, stands Villa Imperiale, built starting from 1530.
In the San Bartolo Park, in the Pesaro area, Casteldimezzo, Fiorenzuola di Focara and Santa Marina Alta are picturesque hamlets overlooking the blue of the Adriatic Sea.

Among the traditional dishes and products we point out the cappelletti alla pesarese, prepared in broth; tagliatelle and cannelloni "alla Rossini", a fresh pasta dish dedicated to the great composer; bostrengo, or boiled rice mixed with dried figs, raisins, honey, alchermes, corn flour, cocoa, apples, pears, etc. oil with various spices and veal olivette, stuffed and fried meat rolls.
A gastronomic "gem" is the Pizza Rossini, for the particular combination of pizza and mayonnaise. The base is a simple margherita, to which hard-boiled eggs and strictly handmade mayonnaise are added.

LE MARCHE - ITALY IN ONE REGION

ITALIAN SECRET

Le Marche is one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. Sandwiched between the Adriatic and its better known neighbours Tuscany and Umbria, this quiet and sparsely-populated region has long slipped under the travel radar. Yet with a string of charming hilltop towns and a landscape ranging from snow-capped Apennine peaks to dreamy beaches and otherworldly caves, it’s the perfect place to experience Italy without the crowds. Outstanding with their geometrical shapes and imposing appearance, Italian castles are not only awe-inspiring but absolutely marvelous – a splendor that is best observed in person. Interestingly, no two castles seem alike and each has unique features that correlate with historical events, natural surroundings, and political changes over the centuries.

RICH HISTORY

Few countries in the world are suffused with such a strong sense of historical continuity as Italy. From the myths that surround the birth of the Etruscan civilization to the foundation of United Italy in the 19thC, past and present are inextricably linked in a seamless web that stretches back over three millennia. This short account provides a thread to guide you through the labyrinth of this complex story. You'll find more detailed local history in the individual town pages.

RESTAURANTS

Marche is centrally located on the eastern Italian coast, nestling between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. The region is characterised by a rugged, mountainous inland and a beach-lined coast, dotted with quaint seaside towns. These variations in the region’s geography are also reflected in its food; seafood is popular, along with rural delicacies such as wild funghi, game, nuts and herbs and the region’s treasured truffles. Coniglio in porchetta, rabbit stuffed with wild fennel is a revered regional speciality, and traditional porchetta made with suckling pig and stuffed into rolls is a popular street food.

Autumn in Le Marche

If you are not fond of hot days and you love the beautiful mild sunny days, when the sun gently caresses your skin and senses, inviting you to spend time in the open air, why don’t you take the chance of a holiday in Marche in Autumn?

THE SCENT OF THE GRAPE HARVEST

Especially in the first part of autumn, the scents of the grape harvest invade the Marche hills. With must they make the typical, soft donuts that you can find in many local bakeries, must biscuits, perfect to be served with “vino cotto” (literally “cooked wine”) and “sughetti” (a kind of polenta made of must, corn flour and walnuts). When the must is cooked for a long time, sapa is produced: it is a sweet and sticky ingredient perfect for seasoning polenta and making cavallucci (a typical local biscuit). In Montecassiano the festival of sughitti is held during the last week of September. The oldest Sagra dell’Uva (wine festival) in Italy is held in Cupramontana at the beginning of October: it’s a festival with food, music, dances and, of course, Sir Wine.

OLIVE HARVEST & OLIVE OIL

One of the most magical moments in Marche, and in Italy in general, happens at the end of October / beginning of November: this is the month of the olive harvest, when you will see many people working around the olive trees to pick the precious fruit. Do not hesitate: the new oil, with its intense green color, is immediately ready to be tasted and purchased. If you have friends who have a farmhouse in the countryside with olive grove, ask them to invite you for the harvest: it will be a beautiful moment to share with your friends and then you can bring the olives to the mill and attend to the production of your own olive oil.

THE FOLIAGE OF CANFAITO BEECH FOREST

If you want to make an experience of colours, then you can’t miss the Canfaito beech forest: every year you can enjoy the same and always different show of the beech leaves changing colours. You’ll feel like under a golden dome made of yellow, orange and red leaves. Just enjoy a relaxing walk under the beech trees and don’t forget to stop by Elcito, a tiny untouched village, where you can breathe an atmosphere of old times, when shepherds woke up at dawn, spent the whole day out with their animals, longing to go back home and find some warmth in front of the fireplace with their families.

MEDIOEVAL VILLAGES

Visiting the numerous Medieval villages spotted all around Marche may be quite a challenge under the August sun, but doing it in Autumn, when the air is still warm and sun lights up the stones that make up the town walls, has a totally different appeal. Stroll through the narrow streets of the Marchigiano towns, where a beautiful panorama awaits you at every corner. Difficult to recommend a village: just switch off your satellite navigator, follow a less traveled road and certainly you will find a quiet and nice village waiting to welcome you.

CHESTNUT FESTIVAL

The good and sweet smell of roasted chestnuts is one of the nicest in autumn. You can go yourself to look for chestunts and then cook them at your place or, if you are not sporty enough, there are many chestnut festivals in October, especially in the Sibillini area, where people roast chestunts along the roads and you can buy a cone. The most famous chestnut festivals in Marche are in Smerillo and Montemonaco. Smerillo is particularly famous also for being one of the balconies of Marche: thanks to its elevated position, you can admire wide open views, stretching from the Sibillini mountains to the sea, passing through the rolling hills and medieval villages.

TRUFFEL

Autumn also offers another delicious, sought-after and highly appreciated product: truffles. Two are the most important events in Marche dedicated to truffles: the National Fair of White Truffle in Acqualagna and Diamanti a Tavola in Amandola, dedicated to the precious white truffles of the Sibillini.

THE CONERO AREA IN PEACE

Ok the temperature is not suitable for a swim but the Conero without the crowds of summer allows you to make many experiences, from cycling to walking (we especially recommend two trips: the viewpoint up to Passo del Lupo, and that from the Belvedere) as well as visiting the villages of Sirolo and Numana.

Traveling in the Marche

AIRPORTS
The main transport hub of the Marche is the Adriatic port city of Ancona. International flights serve the Marche airport just northwest of the city, while ferries sail to and from destinations in Greece, Croatia and Albania.

PRIVATE CAR
You have to be a good driver in the Marche; the streets are narrow and often steep. Fly to Ancona and rent a car. For speed, take the A14, which connects the entire region along its 111 miles of coastline, from Pesaro in the north to Ascoli Piceno in the south. For pleasure, drive along the state roads through the splendid landscapes of the Marche.

TRAINS
Once in the region, trains run along the coast and buses serve most of the inland towns and villages. Realistically, though, you'll want your wheels to explore the region's verdant hinterland. The car rental service is available at the Marche airport and Ancona railway station.

Guest Reviews for Villa Vagnini

Agency Answer:

Sarà un piacere accogliervi nuovamente per un altro soggiorno all’insegna del relax e della bellezza del territorio! A presto!

The villa is fantastic, the photos are really depicting what you will find on location. We were not so lucky with the weather, it rained a lot. Although this is of course no responsibility of the owners or of the agency, the garden in from of the entry of the villa was constantly covered by water and there was a lot of mud, maybe it would be advisable to improve the drainage there.
Besides this, the villa is incredibly maintained, the garden is fantastic and the view really incredible. We had few problems, but they were readily solved by the agency that maintains the villa. We still have few comments to improve the experience for the travellers: considered that the kitchen is made available, it would have been great to have nicer (newer) cookware, some pots were really old. I would also advise to prepare a list with the most important information to know about the villa (where the extra linens are, who to call, what to do if Wifi is off and so on). This is important because both the check in and check out are done remotely and it is important for the users to have additional information.
We would definitely go back, it has been a great week!

Agency Answer:

Thank you for your thoughtful and constructive feedback! We’re so glad you enjoyed the villa, especially the stunning garden and views. We’re sorry the weather wasn’t on your side, and we appreciate your suggestion regarding the drainage; we’ll look into ways to improve that area.
Your comments on cookware and providing a handy list with essential villa information are very helpful, and we’ll take them on board to further enhance the guest experience. It’s great to hear that you would return – we’d be delighted to welcome you back for another memorable stay!

A very nice house in a nice surrounding, good view to the adriatic sea and a few big supermarkets you find in Pesaro in 6 km distance. The highway A14 autostrada adriatica passes near by and you can hear it, but for us it wasn't disturbing.
The house is comfortable and spacious, it was very clean and it's nice to have to bathrooms and an extra toilet.
We liked to make our own pizza in the oven outside!
WiFi is ok, but just a good range in the two living rooms.
Attention: Towels and sheets/linen are disposable! You can not wash them - so it's recommended to order a second kit per person if you stay more than one week.
The vegetables in the garden are not free available, just talk to the gardener if you can have some, he is a very kind local.
Also Mirco, who handed the house over, was very kind and very on time.
All in all we had a very nice stay and we would go back, and if some day there would be also a pool - it would be perfect!

Agency Answer:

Thank you so much for the great review about our villa! We are really happy that you had a pleasant stay. As for linen, we have chosen to use biodegradable disposable materials to ensure a more sustainable and environmentally friendly experience. However, upon request, we are happy to provide a change of toweling linen.
Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon!

Alles Tiptop.

Agency Answer:

Thank you very much for your kindly review and nice to see that you enjoyed your stay at our home!
Looking to see you again in the future!

Verry nice and spacious villa. All necessary equipment inside include a pizza oven and BBQ.
Rather no acc and but only with very high temp and humidity, + 35 degrees a problem. the house itself is cool and protect you against the sun and high temp.

The communication was very good and fast. Everything was prepared upon arrival and the landlady was very friendly. The house is wonderful for a relaxing holiday. The view, the equipment and the rooms leave nothing to be desired. The house and the surrounding area are very suitable for a holiday with children. The vegetable and fruits is well tended and you can harvest delicious fruit and vegetables. We say THANK YOU for the great holiday!
